Heritage Days

On October 14th, we went to the Heritage Days at Frances Slocum State Park.  It was a beautiful fall day, perfect for a picnic and then some heritage fun.  It's very kid oriented which made it even more fun.

The kids really enjoyed their maple syrup lollipops.

 There were games...
 drums...
crafts...(this one was a bug making craft)
They had a good time decorating gourds.

Caden's gourd with cheeks and a chin...Abigail's was already in her bag.  It had 3 pink pom-poms on it.
Caden was thrilled to find this place with the tiles where they could make trivets.  He did this 2 years ago and loved this craft.
 and leaves!

We finished up with some time on the playground which was probably the highlight of the day, after the trivet of course.

Emma the Squishy Doll

Abigail has a new doll to add to her collection, Emma the Squishy Doll.  Emma was a gift from a friend who goes to Caden's school.  This sweet little girl has been having trouble leaving her mom in the morning to walk into school.  One morning we happened to be there at the same time.  She kept looking at Abby (they were in the same group at the library last year), and I asked if she would like Abby to walk her in.  She quickly smiled and nodded.  Abby took her hand and there was no looking back.  I know Abby enjoys helping out and has trouble walking back to me :).  So, as a way to say thank you, this little girl gave Abby a doll.  Abby wanted to name her "Squishy Doll" since her legs are squishy, her belly is squishy, her arms are...well, you get the point (Abby went through the whole list).  I suggested "Emma", so we combined names.

Leaves of Color

We found these really fun leaves while on a walk.  I'm not sure what tree they came from, but they had pretty much every fall color, green, brown, yellow, orange, and red all on one leaf.

Abigail's Ride

The end of Sept. we visited my mom's (after the Bloom Fair), and Abigail finally figured out how to push the pedals on her bike!  We were so excited, and I think she was too.  She also learned how to open doors recently.  Not sure if we're really excited about that one.

 Caden's just singing away.

Bloomsburg Fair

We went to the Bloomsburg Fair on Friday, the 28th.  We visited with some friends first, so we didn't actually get to the fair until closer to 3.  It wasn't busy at first, but it filled up quickly!  It was so great being there.  It had been 3 years for us making it Abigail's first time.

Yes Caden is getting a little big for a stroller, but we'd rather this than have him whine about being too tired to walk.

They both really enjoyed the animals.
The smells were getting to Caden.  We actually had to skip one of the pig barns because it was too smelly.  We walked past another family and they heard us comment about the smell, and the "dad" said, "Yeah, her hair will be straight by the time you reach the other end!"  We couldn't risk straightening Abigail's crazy curls!
Yes, we went to the Bloomsburg Fair and all the kids ate were hot dogs and a funnel cake.  We didn't want to spend a whole lot of $ just for them not to eat...so hot dogs it was!  Jason had a cheesesteak from...can't remember where...and we walked all around trying to find a Polack's stromboli for me only to later realize that Dennis and Pearl's (I think that's the right name) is the same stuff!

They did enjoy the funnel cake though!
Abigail looks a little concerned here...I think she was looking for Caden who was in the bathroom.
