Caden's First Day of K

In case you haven't picked up on this yet, every first day of school is going to be a photo shoot for my kids...although I have a feeling the cooperation won't last long :)

The bus stop is on the corner behind Caden...where the stop sign and trees are.

Our neighbor's little girl is heading to first grade.
 They are so excited!
Waiting for the bus...we waited for an hour for that bus...huddled together under an umbrella almost the whole time.  On the first day of K, parents ride the bus with their students and stay there for the orientation (about 2 hours).

I think the nerves were setting in at this point.
A nice little lunch surprise for the first day!
I wasn't able to get a pick of him getting on the bus the first day...so here's the second day :)
 Where's Caden's bus?
We can't wait for Caden to get home!

First Family Camping Trip

We went on our first camping trip as a family this past Thursday into Friday at Frances Slocum State Park.  Caden and I were so excited :)  I have been planning it for awhile but it was hard to find 2 days in a row with nothing going on.  Both days were beautiful, but the night got pretty chilly, down to 47 I think.  The blankets took up so much room in the car!  I think overall, everyone had a good time.  We were thankful that we didn't have neighbors on either side for like 3 sites...our kids are so loud!

Abby set up her bed first thing (tucking in Bunny and Jaguar).  You can't really tell here, but the kids took over the air mattress.  Now I know what to put on my Christmas List this year!

Roasting hot dogs over the fire.  We were so proud of ourselves for making a fire!  We weren't so lucky 6 years ago when Jason and I last went camping.
Then it was off to the playground!

Roasting marshmallows...the kids didn't like it when they caught on fire which luckily is my favorite kind!
Abby gave up and just ate them out of the bag.

An exciting game of Old Maid
 The morning after...all smiles!

Caden posed us for this one.

Caden found this letter on our hike :)

Isn't She Cute?

Bike Riders

Besides tying his shoes, Caden has also been working on riding a 2-wheeled bike without training wheels.  We started practicing at Mammy's house with a bike that a neighbor gave us.  He tried it here at home too, but we have a little area next to the house and he can't make the tighter turns yet without the trainers.  He's off to a great start though!
Abigail is now tall enough to reach the pedals...so exciting!

Rockin'

The kids got these fun things (hats, glasses, guitar, sax) from their Uncle Brooks' wedding and have been having a lot of fun playing with them still.

Caden Can Tie His Shoes!

This is how everyone learns how to tie their shoes, right?
Caden officially knows how to tie his shoes after just a few days of practice.  Now off to buy him some new shoes with laces!
While teaching Caden how to tie his shoes, we learned that Jason and I tie our shoes in the complete opposite way!  My way isn't the "right" way according to Caden, so he had to learn Jason's way of course.

A Fun Filled Sunday

This past Sunday (8.4), we decided to try our luck at blueberry picking.  We never did this before, so we had no idea how it would go.  Well, the kids did a great job!  They were so focused on the task and didn't pick any green ones by accident!  They didn't sample any until we were on our way out, and after we told them they could.  We'll definitely be there again next year though I have a feeling more sampling will be going on.

On our way to the blueberry farm, we saw a sign for a state park we never heard of.  So, we checked it out on the GPS and found out it was only about 7 miles down the road.  After we got some info, we decided to take a short hike around an island.  It was the perfect length because about half way through Abby asked if we could go home.  She had a nice little nap on the way home.

Caden took this one!
