Gingerbread House

Since decorating a tree and baking Christmas cookies weren't enough...we decided to create a gingerbread house on Dec. 10th. We haven't done much for Christmas since; I'm good now.  They actually sat and worked at this for over an hour.

Caden was pretty excited :)

I guess Abigail was a little excited too!

These for the examples of the different kind you could make...
but they forgot the best one of all!

Christmas Lists

Caden's List (at school):
  cars (Matchbox Cars)
  puzzles
  Super Heroes
At home he added a globe to his list.

Abigail's List:
  chocolate
  Cinderella puzzle

Christmas Cookies

On Sunday, December 9th, I finally felt ready to make cut-out cookies.  It's usually a very stressful experience for me :)  The kids really enjoyed it.  I used a store bought mix for the dough since mine usually end up tasting like flour since they are so sticky (that's the stressful part).  I added a lot more flour than what they called for, but I think they still taste yummy.

Tasting their hard work.  This was obviously the best part.

Christmas Tree

We got our Christmas tree on Dec. 8th at a local nursery this year.  It was pretty easy to pick out the tree.  The price was much better than the other place too.

 This is the one!

Yup...not our car.  The Escape has a recall.
I just noticed...this is a family picture!

We all worked at cutting off that plastic wrapping stuff.
 Decorating time!
Abigail would pick one up and say, "Where's this go?"  She quickly learned that it really doesn't matter where...just as long as you don't have 4 on one branch...look below.
Not sure why this one is upside down.

He was so excited to put the star on top!

Christmas Countdown

It's pretty easy to tell who is crossing off which color :)

First Snow Fall

Our first snow fall of the season was on Nov. 27th.  Caden asked to go out to play first thing in the morning, but he still had school.  He was OK with waiting until after lunch.  I think Abigail was pretty excited too since she didn't really go out last year with all of 2 snow storms.

 Can you tell he's excited?

This is what happened when I told Abigail she could not wear her pink gloves because her hands would get too cold.  She's so fun sometimes!
I tried to get a group picture, but I think Abigail was still upset about the gloves.

 Yup...still upset!
As soon as she got out, she forgot about the gloves :)  She had a great time just stomping around while Caden cleared off the railing (the first thing he does every time).

It was perfect packing snow, so we got to work on some snowmen after making angels and throwing snowballs at each other.
 Caden's got away from him...

We decided this was big enough, and got to work on 4 other balls to put on top.  Yes, a 5 ball snowman.
Abigail called this her path.  She used it to go between Caden's snowman and her "tower".

The end result.
It's missing a face and arms...I'll do better with that next time!
